Fall Edit: Runway Inspired OOTD
By: Ariana N.
I have been following this specific brand for the past year and have fell completely in love with the style and prints. The theme of the 2017 fall fashion show of Alice + Olivia is based on Salman Rushdie’s book the Enchantress of Florence which takes place in Florence during the Renaissance and India under the Emperor Akbar. Stacey Bendet the designer of Alice + Olivia describes the collection to have elements from Florence during the Renaissance and from India during the war. We can see the glamour side with beautiful beading, rich colors, and embroidery that represents Florence; and we see the mixture of flowering and military designs representing India.
I found it rather easy to recreate this specific NYFW line with clothing that I already had in my closet. The jeans and shoes are an everyday wear for my outfits. I had to dig deep in my drawers however for the turtleneck blouse since it’s only worn during the winter and with the other two blouses I looked no further but my closet. Now, the jackets I got very lucky with. An old friend of mine gave me their old camouflage jacket that I thought I’d never get use out of except for the rare occasion of Halloween so it was exciting to put the jacket to use! I found the blue and brown pattern jacket in my mom's closet and the silk patterned cover was given to me a year ago and had never worn until now. This line showed me that it’s easy to recreate these fashion show looks if you get a little creative and dig deep in your drawers and closet, or your moms!
