Fall Edit: Runway Inspired OOTD
By: Alyssa Z.
New York Fashion week has come and gone, and I have to say we have got some pretty exciting new trends coming at us. Some we have already been strutting. Slogan/logo t-shirts, oversized framed sunglasses, tinted lenses, pops of color, and embellishment are just some of what’s to come from New York Fashion Week.
One of the trends seen was the embellished trend. Coach 1941 showcased pieces featuring silver glitter and some street scribbles giving an ode to Keith Harrington. Coach 1941 was inspired by the 80’s dress. In Etro’s show, the main pieces had a lot of embellishment and beading. Dolce and Gabbana also took part in the embellishment trend by adding an interesting twist. Dolce and Gabbana featured a lot more edgy colorful embellishments and sequins. Moschino used a lot of spike details layering thick, silver chain necklaces mixing the slogan/logo t-shirt trend. Adding in a spiked belt around t-shirts, or having various layered necklaces paired with a t-shirt and a leather skirt. Moschino was very edgy and almost had a slight punk feel. This trend was definitely my favorite to come from fashion week.
Accessories were just as important as the clothes this year. Coach 1941 chose oversized embellished sunglasses. One of the most noticeable styles was the rounded, gold embellished sunglasses. They had a unique fit to them as the arms had almost a steampunk design. Creatures of the Wind created sunglasses in a more wearable way, pairing outfits with basic black sunglasses.
There was so much to see during New York Fashion Week this year. We are already taking these looks off the runway with the oversized sunglasses and layered jewelry. The trend I was most inspired by is the slogan tee and dressing it up with layers of jewelry. It's an even bigger way to make a statement, and even more effortless to recreate. I can't wait to see more runway trends emerge in the streets.
